Multi-jurisdictional support for child with severe brain injury

We have been acting on behalf of a child who suffered severe brain injuries following a high-speed road traffic accident on a motorway in France.

The family was living in the UK at the time of the accident but subsequently moved to the Netherlands and then to France. Whilst living in the Netherlands, we assisted the family in securing a case manager to support her rehabilitation and care. However, case managers do not exist in the same capacity in France, which posed a challenge once the family ultimately settled there. We were able to help resolve that by identifying a suitably trained individual to support her needs, which we were able to fund alongside private treatment and several adaptations to the new family home.

We worked with the family and the support team throughout the claim and were able to secure regular six-figure interim payments. A settlement with a capitalised value of £15 million was ultimately agreed and approved by the High Court earlier this year to support ongoing care and living costs.
